The Considerations
When should I consider an evaluation for my child?
When there are signs of:
Concerns about dyslexia, ADHD, or other learning differences
Persistent difficulties with reading, writing, or math
Challenges sustaining attention or staying organized
Difficulty completing schoolwork despite strong effort
Academic performance that does not match ability
Increased frustration or anxiety
Decreased self-esteem related to school
Difficulty keeping up with classroom demands
Evaluations may also be helpful when students are transitioning to more demanding academic environments, such as middle school, high school, or college.
Seeking an evaluation does not mean something is “wrong.” Rather, it is a way to better understand a student’s learning needs so that appropriate supports can be put in place.
Understanding today can support success tomorrow.
